A file is to be prepared for the coroner's court following the death of a boy who got into difficulty in a Co Offaly hotel swimming pool on Sunday

Investigations have been launched by gardai and the Health and Safety Authority after it was confirmed that the six-year-old died at Children's Health Ireland in Crumlin yesterday.

It's understood the boy was with family members on a break from another part of the country at the hotel at the weekend and was attending a regular swimming session with his family when the incident happened. The four-star Tullamore Court Hotel is located on O'Moore Street in the town and was bought by the iNua Hospitality group in 2019, from John Flanagan Developments.
