The Supreme Court temporarily blocked a Texas law that restricts the ability of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to moderate content on their platforms

Washington The Supreme Court of the United States temporarily blocked a sweeping Texas law on Tuesday that restricts the ability of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to moderate content on their platforms. By a 5-4 vote, the justices granted an emergency request from the tech industry to block a lower court order that would have allowed the law to take hold, pending legal challenges.

In an unusual alignment the five justices in the majority were Chief Justice John Roberts, Stephen Breyer, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Sonia Sotomayor. Liberal Justice Elena Kagan was joined by conservative justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, who would have denied the request. The Supreme Court order is a loss for Texas.

CNN its about Free Speech - not CNN speech

Good

GOOD DEAL! UP YOURS MARK!

In other words CENSORSHIP IS ALIVE AND WELL

S

Money has got to be changing hands in the Supreme Court. Time to investigate individual Judges finances.

The big question is who decides it’s hate speech? As we have seen the new whinny sheep think if you disagree with them it’s hate speech..

Texas again ! Texas against social medias, Texas against women freedom, Texas against guns regulations, it just doesn't stop with that state. Because people living in the North don't care about the Texans cowboys. Oh I'm living in the North . Lol

I feel like every amendment should have been prefaced with the words “Since you live in a SOCIETY”

What a great law this would be! Adults would have to verify their own content imagine that.

Ridiculous.

Please help me! My name is Lin donglong, an employee of China telecom fuzhou branch. Company manager huang fei (communist party of China) organized the leadership of the gang of evil forces brutal persecution: surveillance location, insult, abuse, framed to take nude photos of me

I’m not American but I’m reasonably savvy as I’m educated and read a lot. Texas wants to do what? Restrict social media? They are hell-bent on enforcing the Second Amendment, but they seem to care little for the First Amendment? Only in America

Texas doesn't want anyone moderating the endless lies spread but right wing extremist fascists and their bots?

This is democracy.good

texas your making yourselves a target for the dem party. head my words. there coming for you. you gotta stop acting so dumb. there going to usurp you like they did california. prepare.

FB has been doing this for a long time. Use Twitter while you still can

Means nothing. The Supreme Court is as crooked as any criminal.

The party of 'small government' trying to tell private businesses how to operate. Hysterical. 😂

Does the filtering process happen in Texas, and if so would it be difficult to move? If not, is Texas claiming universal jurisdiction on the issue?

Just because they get off doesn't mean their innocent.

the restrictions is to ask them to lead the society ,because all of them are more than average level.

Can we give TX to Russia?

Truth: Texas wants the past Pres. to use Twitter and FB as his propaganda tools to put out the Big Lie that he won the WH. If that wreaks our democracy, why not. At some point somebody must say NO! That bird and FB are the ones right now.

Texas NEEDS BetoORourke

The fact that it was 5-4 ruling shows how unqualified 4 Supreme Court Justices are to be on the bench.

Texas needs real leadership.

The terrifying thing about this is that four Justices --including supposedly conservative Justices -- saw no problem with forcing a private company to enforce the rules imposed by the State. That's actually fascism, kids.

The court is in favored freedom of speech but not freedom to choose?

'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.'

Why temporary?

I hate CNN anchors.

They are private companies, the Supreme Court is overstepping

Facebook, Twitter and Youtube should just block all of their content from Texas IP addresses.

I can't imagine why anyone would live in Texas.

Boo.

We’ve got to stop the Republicans from taking our rights away! i’m surprised this Republican court did the right thing 👇

Da fuck was Kagan thinking?!

That's a win for free speech folks. And Elon Musk if he is listening, the Justices of the highest court in the land of America gave you a win vs state of Texas. They blocked moderation and censorship of twitter and other social media 🙄 Thank God!!!!!

So, I can hang pictures of naked women in a private business (grocery store) to express my freedom of speech?

Texas wants to be north Korea /china / Russia? Man I thought they hated those guys

More guns please
