Twist in Senzo Meyiwa murder trial as defence lawyer points to second docket | Citypress

The trial of five men accused of murdering former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa took a dramatic turn on Tuesday when defence lawyer Advocate Malesela Teffo revealed the contents of a second police docket, which suggested that the goalkeeper died instantly on the crime scene, contrary to evidence heard from state witness and evidence collector Thabo Mosia.

Teffo referred to a docket that was opened at the Vosloorus Police Station in 2019, where investigators uncovered that Meyiwa was allegedly shot in the company of those who were in the house, as opposed to the claim that armed robbers gained access to the premises and shot and killed him while robbing others.

Mosia declined to comment on the propositions by Teffo, saying that he could only answer questions regarding his role in gathering material from the crime scene.The iconic goalkeeper was shot and killed at Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s house in Vosloorus on October 26 2014.
