Federal Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino will table new firearms legislation on Monday, according to his colleague Justice Minister David Lametti.— the document where MPs and ministers signal plans to soon table bills and motions — Mendicino has given notice of a new bill titled "An Act to amend certain Acts and to make certain consequential amendments ".

Though, he did note that there are "a number of different" outstanding measures, between a past unpassed bill and 2021 election campaign commitments.failed bill from the last Parliament,Among the outstanding Liberal gun-control promises from that legislation and from Mendicino's mandate letter that could be included in the new bill:

Requiring long-gun magazines be permanently altered "so that they can never hold more than five rounds”; "It's not just about writing responsible and common-sense laws. Insane

Any reasonable person knows this law will do nothing to reduce the guns in criminal hands. Just another government bureaucrat doing something/anything to justify their job.

Big joke! All criminal guns come from the States

They had it all in the waiting.

Knee jerk reaction to an American crisis. Our problem has rarely been legally acquired guns but smuggling from the USA into Canada. Our money and laws need to focus there. Plum liger jail times for smugglers and those that buy or sell those guns no matter if there used in a crime

I’m a lot in support are the same ones saying send more arms to ukraine. Let’s not and see how it goes. Wouldn’t want them falling into the wrong hands

Good! It’s long overdue.

WEF controls the free world now you don’t need firearms to hunt social credit system and synthetic food plus vaccines will benifit you comply or be erased

Don't have the function of defence of a firearm and now I would like paper work to converge on if necessary be able to defend hopefully more than myself with a Firearm. Because I still don't know why I am tracked by providence care and noticed by police while walking I explained.

The criminal element are laughing at this joke.

Amen

Utter 🐂💩

I hope they're not infringing on my 2nd Amendment rights.

liberal_party always knows how to use a tragedy to their advantage. how callous JustinTrudeau DavidLametti

Retarded you are punishing gun owners but the ones that have there guns tucked in there waist bands and under there car seats and the ones that are responsible for most of the killings can carry as long as they dont get caught lol foolish if I want a gun to eat I shall have one

Nothing will change unless there are consequences for actions. The government is soft on crime - they prefer to punish law abiding citizens.

This Liberal government is so simple it's sad.

This is a start but what about crimes committed while using a gun … illegal guns are too easy to get . We need to send criminals a signal Canadians for tolerate out streets becoming shooting galleries .

Nobody owns a firearm LEGALLY!!

I love how the Liberals seek to capitalize on a tragedy that happened in another country Get the illegal guns, that's our issue... School shootings in Canada are very rare. No need to penalize responsible gun owners with ALREADY very restrictive and highly regulated gun laws.

What could possibly go wrong, fast tracking a bill after a terrible tragedy. TrudeauworstPMever

We don’t need a “new” firearms bill. You need to reduce illegal gun use and increase penalties for crime where guns are used

No

Must’ve just had the bill sitting and waiting for a mass shooting to politicize and push along the Lib agenda. Gross.

Wait, and the strengthening of the Canada Health Act for access to abortion is where in legislative process? DavidLametti MarciIen

We should just hand out guns to gangbangers. It’s basically liberal policy already

Bull by the horn NOW.
