Mayor Adams has expressed support for overdose prevention centers in NYC, operated by nonprofits. Adams tweeted his support for making the facilities 'accessible 24 hours a day.' But for now, the city is withholding millions in opioid settlement money.

The measure is starting to gain some momentum after years in limbo. State Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal first introduced the bill in 2017. It moved out of the Assembly Health Committee for the first time this month. But this recent push may not be enough to get it through before the legislative session ends on June 2nd.

But the bill still faces some opposition in both houses and has less support in the state Senate, where it has yet to advance. In October 2021, Gov. He has to make sure his law enforcement buddies will profit from these facilities. He cannot be trusted. We’d be better-off delaying implementation of these programs for the remainder of his time in office. His cop friends will fail this idea completely.
