However, long-term impacts of vaping remain unclear.
The forthcoming report was written by former charity boss Javed Khan, who reportedly supports a "polluter pays" philosophy that would see tobacco firms effectively funding the cost of anti-smoking policies. A source close to Mr Khan, a former CEO of Barnardo's, told The Telegraph: "The stance he’s taken in the meetings I’ve had with him has been quite radical."He supports major reforms to the Government's tobacco policy, including stricter controls on sale.20st man with 'blown-up glove hands' says it's not the govt's job to help him lose weight
It's understood the review will help Mr Javid make his case to increase the legal age to 21 - and get the smoking reforms passed in the Commons. Another source involved in the report said: “Sajid Javid is interested in health inequality and he is interested in tackling public health issues, but the Government is in hock to right-wing MPs.But with the Government considering 18 as the age of legal responsibility, a Downing Street source told the newspaper that Boris Johnson may not feel it should be raised.
What is this 2030 now everything is by 2030 Whats wrong with tomorrow
That's illegal discrimination isn't it? You can't keep treating 18 year olds like half citizens and expecting them to pay taxes. Ban tailor-made cigarettes by all means, but do it for all.
I’m not pro smoking but I am pro choice and anti authoritarian government. There is no need to dictate to 18 year olds what they can or can’t do with their bodies. If they haven’t got the message in 18 years it’s their lookout.
We’re going to have Taliban Smoking Police. Join the TSP and make a difference. Blowing smoke rings will result in a custodial sentence! Be warned
More studies must be done to investigate the effect of VAPING on the lungs, and other organs. A number of months ago, I read an article that stated lungs in regular vapers were showing damage from the HEAT that is inhaled when vaping.
The one sensible and rational policy in the whole anti-smoker saga.
Just ban it completely like other unsafe drugs, vapes are a viable safer alternative for those who are addicted. I suspect this is an effort to rake in tax off the addicted few just like micro-transactions in games.
And the voting age.
Lol it's not the smoking they need to deal with. It's the teenagers vaping because it's cool and smoking isn't cool etc. Kids these days don't smoke, they vape.
Smokers stink...
Billions of tax lost.
Doesn’t matter - about 75% of kids are addicted to vapes now …
If it wasn't for the obscene tax revenues that the government makes from the poor addicts. They'd ban smoking tomorrow.
What is the legal age for marrying?
So by 2030. No petrol cars No diesel cars No fags Enjoy your tax rises
marionste Won't make a hoot Where sex , drugs & smoking is concerned. Only way is to be big brother spy every aspect of every human being
Any chance backdating the legal age to marry, to 35? That would help me out.😢
Where will the get the tax from then?
The government brings in around £12 billion in tax from cigarettes, from direct tax revenues. Where will this lost revenue come from? Not saying smoking is good just don't think they should attack a genuinely good form of income.
What about Alcohol?
