Rep. Tim Ryan, Ohio’s Democratic Senate nominee, has joined more than 100 other House Democrats in calling to end the filibuster rule to pass a federal law protecting abortion rights in the face of the possible future overturning of Roe v. Wade.

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, a Democrat running for an open U.S. Senate seat in Ohio, talks with reporters following a debate with other Democrats at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, Monday, March 28, 2022. COLUMBUS, Ohio --

Ryan signed on to the letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer calling for the end to the rule, which will allow Senate Republicans to block any abortion-related legislation. The filibuster requires support from at least 60 Senators to pass nearly all legislation, while Democrats hold just 51 seats in the Senate.

Ryan, of the Niles area, will face Republican J.D. Vance, the writer and venture capitalist, in the November election. They are competing to replace Republican Sen. Rob Portman, who is retiring., Ryan has called for ending the filibuster to pass Democratic voting-rights legislation and a package of spending priorities by President Joe Biden, and more recently, to codify Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal across the country.

But the issue is taking on new salience after the recent leak of an early draft Supreme Court decision that would overturn Roe, with additional reports emerging indicating a majority of court supports doing so. DBChirpy 1. No gov has a right to insert themselves into citizens privacy. That’s authoritarian. 2. Pro-choice is not pro-abortion. There are medical reasons why a fetus is not carried to term. 3. Removing females right to privacy, makes them property of the state. whiotv

Does Sen_JoeManchin support it?

Isn’t Democrats ending the filibuster the only reason we have the Supreme Court we do now?

Typical used car Salesman

J.D. Vance supports ending RoeVWade even in cases of 'inconvenience' like rape or incest, and he's exaggerating the position of TimRyan to cover his own extremist position. EndTheFilibuster VoteBlueToProtectWomen ReproductiveFreedom

TimRyan Next Senator of Ohio!!!!!!

You lost on a simple majority vote. Filibuster is irrelevant as is Tim Ryan.

Democrats - remind us. Is the filibuster essential to the future democracy of the country or is overturning it essential to the future democracy of the country? You have made both arguments in recent history. 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡

“We should change the rules bc we can’t win.” Good luck with that campaign strategy.
