Former Crime Intelligence boss Richard Mdluli will not be responding to the State's application to stop unreasonable delays in the prosecution. Mdluli and his co-accused have been charged in relation to the alleged looting of an SSA slush fund.
Once a trial date has been determined, it should proceed irrespective of whether there are any applications by Mdluli that are still pending.The State brought the application after Mdluli announced he would be reviewing the police's decision to deny him legal funding. From November 2020, Mdluli then allegedly refused to appear in court on several occasions, despite being in prison at the time.
