Two of the alleged murderers of Hillary Gardee, the daughter of attorney and former EFF politician Godrich Gardee, have been identified as former Tshwane metro mayor Father Smangaliso Mkhatshwa’s adopted son and Eswatini-born senior manager in the Mpumalanga legislature’s ANC chief whip’s office.Gardee murder suspects are top figures
He is a member of Swaziland’s pro-democracy People’s United Democratic Movement who is in exile in the country. Lukhele studied at the University of the Witswatersrand and was an SRC president. The three men have been charged with kidnapping, conspiracy to commit murder, murder, rape, possession of an unlicensed firearm and defeating the ends of justice.Their motive for killing Gardee, an IT student and businesswoman, is still not clear.
Gardee’s body was found in a timber plantation near the tourist town of Sabie on Tuesday last week. There were signs that she fought for her life after being brutally assaulted and eventually shot in the back of her head.
