Selina Robinson reacted strongly to questions about the status of abortion in B.C. and Canada following reports the U.S. Supreme Court may strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion rights ruling.

In an interview with reporters at the Legislature Tuesday, Robinson said “any change to access to abortion will be over my dead body.” Robinson says access to abortion is about health care and B.C. is committed to making sure that continues.A draft opinion published Monday reveals a majority of the U.S. Supreme Court’s nine justices were in favour of striking down the decision.

“Absolutely nothing is changing here in B.C. on abortions,” says Robinson. “We believe abortion is medical care, good medical care.”

Good for Saline Roberson for standing up for the rights of the women of Canada 🇨🇦 and BC. Just because the USA 🇺🇸 want to go back to the dark ages doesn’t mean we have to follow. You have my gratitude for being a strong woman in a position of power.

I know people who have said they use abortion as a way to just go around having unprotected sex than once they get pregnant abort the baby and do it all over again. That should be illegal if anything

Hmm if one wants a medical procedure like this , then one must pay for it out of their own pocket .

Explain to me why, as Canadians, we feel the need to extrapolate US issues into our political spectrum? Wade and Roe and the current challenge in the US Supreme has no impact on legislation in Canada. Statements and rhetoric like this is misleading and self serving. False news.

While we are distracted, there were another 80,000 pages of Pfizer documents released. The ones that they planned on buried for 75 years.

Jesus, when will the health minister and the rest of her party start addressing BC problems - Roe v Wade was decided in AMERICAN COURTS!!!

And why would it change? Roe vs Wade is a US decision. Canadians have no interest in changing it, plus you probably couldnt find a doctor.

I wish she would have said the same about Covid

Pretty bold statement!

Firstly, abortion access would never change in Canada bc there’s no will for any Party to change it. That’s good! Secondly, if this F.M wants more children born she should stop virtue signalling and try to get housing prices under control. That would allow for larger families.

lol I don't think politicians should be saying things like 'over my dead body'

Why is this a story, this is Canada be are not governed by US Supreme Court decisions. What we should be talking about is why abortion rights have not been enshrined in legislation.

Thank fuck.

Why finance minister is speaking about a issue is not her competency? Allthis guys went tothe sameschool

Who said it was changing?

I wonder what the finance minister has to say about the impending recession that is inevitable at this point? I wonder if she has done anything to make it more bearable for people in bc? I wonder if she even knows what is going to be slamming us in the coming years?

The irony of leftists chanting 'My Body My Choice' who could not have cared less about other peoples body choices for the past two years of vaccine mandates can't be overstated! Many rejoiced at the prospect of people who didn't want to get vaxed losing their jobs because of it

That's what they said about Vx mandates.

My body my choice but not when it comes to an experimental injection, then it’s all right to medically discriminate. Mandate fitness please.

So scared for the US right now

Extremist .. this proves democracy is eroding here. I fully support the right to choose but I also prefer Democracy and if a democratic change comes.. then so be it. Liberals and NDP will never understand that

Sorry, but what does the US domestic matter have to do with BC?

At least your not helpless. Tough girl eh? Have you ever seen an abortion?

The US ruling isn't restricting access to all abortions. Overturning Roe vs Wade would simply allow this legislation to be voted on at the state level and the specific group in court asking the limit to be set to 15 weeks gestation or earlier in their state. And... Finance? 🤷🏽

Why do we need to worry, because their are conservative people here who believe they have the right to tell women what they can do with their body….no one has the right to tell a woman what she should do …period..and obviously from the comments, we need to protect the right!

🤡,I cannot find a family doctor in BC Canada for 5 years. Can’t you solve Canadian’s real problem first before use your dead body to defend American’s rights?

These political declarations look like cheap political points in Canada, right up until you look what direction the Conservative Party is headed.

That’s a little ironic.

The *finance* minister.... I'm very glad but, the *finance* minister... Maybe we can get them to take over the Covid file too? They seem to have more of a head on their shoulders than the health or education ministers do.

Did not realize this was on the table in Canada

Wow, maybe abortion should be available for adults too

Um… what on Earth does a US supreme court decision have anything to do with Canada? Stupid reporting.

First you need to get doctors for the job lol

More talking points to avoid the absolute disaster this BCNDP has turned the Province into.

Just roll a bunch of trucks in and see how fast that tone changes.

1. Define 'woman' 2. If you agree that men can give birth or can compete in women's sports then men can have a say in this issue.

Interesting the FINANCE minister is being asked about abortion. Let’s lob her some more softballs like “do you support LGBT+?” instead of acknowledging the looming recession on the horizon. fakenews

And when the left talks about after birth abortions.....We will have a discussion. Same as America.

You realize that everyone will come here for Abo's now after saying that.😣

Majority of Canadians (and many Americans) don’t understand is that the US is a Union of 50 Nations. Original law was never within authority of SCOTUS whether we like the law or not. It’s a State issue. Nothing to do with what’s fair or what we like. It’s the 10th Amendment

Only feds can ban it and no way that happens. Bigger worry is Americans coming northward. Thankfully Washington State it will stay legal so not as big a problem otherwise.

Speaking of dead bodies.

Maybe now is a good time for birth control.

When in the pregnancy term does abortion become murder?

Umm each individual state determines their own abortion policy. So if California wants to keep allowing it they will continue. Why do people think that the ruling will override each states own laws.

Thank you selinarobinson you are my hero! IWillStandWithYou ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️MyBodyMyChoice AbortionIsHealthcare AbortionIsEssential AbortionIsAWomansRight bcpoli cdnpoli 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Why would a provincial finance minister be commenting on this? Does she know what country she is in?

Why do Canadians always feel the urge to involve themselves in US politics?

Let’s get real, there would be a war. I am very anti-war, but if they start trying pull some of the shlt that’s going on down south, there would millions of people stand up and say “take off, you hoser”.

Strange choice of words considering she is trying to shield the “right” to kill babies.

🫄🏾🤡

. . poor choice of words from the Finance (?) Minister . .

She has no say in the matter. It's up to the people.

Oh, so a certain segment of the population gets a choice on medical procedures, but the rest of us have No Choice... Take this dangerous injection and Shut Up! You've lost me, I'm off the pro life side now, because Liberalism is a Disease

Good job. I don't see many babies any more.
