A Texas law, passed by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Greg Abbott last spring, would...

, nor does it exempt cases of severe fetal abnormality, including those in which the fetus is not expected to survive after birth. It carries narrow exceptions for those placed at risk of death or “substantial impairment of a major bodily function” unless their pregnancy is aborted.Leaked document shows Supreme Court set to overturn Roe v. Wade abortion decision, Politico reports

It remains uncertain whether the draft majority opinion, penned by Justice Samuel Alito in February, will remain intact when the court renders its final decision, expected within the next couple months. In the document, Alito calls the landmark 1973 decision, which legalized abortion nationwide, “egregiously wrong from the start.”

The draft opinion would overturn a lower court decision that blocked Mississippi’s law banning most abortions starting at 15 weeks of pregnancy. The Supreme Court heard oral arguments for the case in December and was widely expected to issue a ruling later this spring or over the summer. Politico, citing “a person familiar with the court’s deliberations,” reported that four other conservative justices — Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — had sided with Alito in a conference between judges following December oral arguments.

Let’s talk about the maternal mortality rates, the poor education system in Texas, the cost of child care, the lack of access to quality affordable healthcare… it’s not about the kids.

Texas has the worst foster care system in the nation. We are almost last for health care for both adults and children. Our schools are underfunded. No one can rent an apartment on minimum wage. Tell me again how that makes Texas “pro-life”?

I hope🤞🏾any woman who is forced 2have a baby: sues the state 4child support, until the child’s 18th birthday. In America🇺🇸today: the government can force u 2have a baby, 4: 18yrs, but can’t force u 2 ware a mask😷 🤦🏽‍♂️ for 18 minutes. Welcome 2 the Republican QANON STATE of TEXAS

Say goodbye to any conventions other than Bible Thumpers of America and Gun Toters United. Say goodbye to SXSW, too.

Note that overturning Roe v. Wade does NOT make abortion illegal nationwide. It just leaves it up to the various states to make their own decisions.

Awesome

Texas is such a backward swamp

Welcome to the stone ages where the religious right decides everything. No abortion. No birth control. No gay marriage. No gays. No interracial marriage. These were all rights previously affirmed by the Supreme Court that are now in danger. Vote these zealots out.

Nice. 🙌

Texas gonna learn real fast how moderate people really are and how quickly they’ll turn our state blue if they don’t talk regulation instead of outright banning abortion.

If Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, Texas will completely ban abortionUT law professor Liz Sepper cautioned against certainty in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court leak, reiterating that this draft, dated Feb. 10, may not reflect the current or final opinion of the court. But based on the oral arguments of the case in December, Sepper said it wasn't surprising to see several of the justices endorsing this full-throated rejection of Roe v. Wade. Striking Roe down has been the wet dream for decades, close to certainty this is the way it will land. Get ready cuz it won’t be the last thing either... dakota_girl495 Oh and the coup doesn't mean Americans are trying to overthrow The United States of America even if it means violent deadly attacks against fellow citizens. 🙄
