Education bills that let parents review library books and sue if they believe a school violated access to a student’s records were signed into law.

Two controversial education bills that would create procedures for parents to review library books and allow parents to sue if they believe a school has violated their access to a student’s records were signed into law by Gov. Doug Ducey.

House Bill 2161, also signed Friday, states that parents must have access to any records a school has on their child, ranging from grades to counseling records to behavioral patterns. Opponents of those measures have said they could lead to more educators leaving the profession and raised concerns about how they would affect LGBTQ students who may not feel safe sharing information about their identity at home.

News flash, they pretty much always have had access. Sounds like the desperate GOP legislature trying to rally their ignorant base.
