Companies hit with the charge say they recognize the seriousness of the crisis, which has led to widespread addiction and public-health costs. But they say taxing companies for legal drug distribution isn’t the solution.

Slimy drug pushers

It is not all BigPharmas fault. The last administration that is paid from our tax dollars allowed this crisis to snowball, while ignoring all warnings. They put profit over lives and I don't see anyone trying to sue them. OpioidCrisis

Oral surgeon recently told me he attended a seminar on this . New research shows a teen who takes 10 opioids for pain ( wisdom teeth, sports injury etc ) is likely to become addicted ! He was shocked.

Of course they did.

If companies truly recognized the seriousness of the crisis, they would be taking more action. Perhaps government mandated profit caps on all Opiates with the remainder going to fund prevention & treatment programs?

It most certainly is. Hit them where it hurts. What have you done as a company otherwise? Something proactive not reactive.

600 million isn’t enough 600 billion should cover it. They destroy families.

No but banning them as a non medical useful option is. Biomimicry is the answer people. There is venom from snakes spiders and scorpions that we can make into non addictive pain killers biomimicry

People taking prescription drugs isn’t the problem. Street drugs and counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl is the problem. Tom Petty, Prince and Mac Miller all met the same fate

Are these the tobacco industry lawyers?

The very fact that government wants to TAX a business shows that it has NOTHING to do with public health concerns, and everything to do with trying to fill their coffers and buy more votes.

They are not distributors, they are drug dealers and should be prosecuted as such.
