The African human rights commission has found in favour of Thomas Masuku, dismissed from the bench in 2011 on dubious grounds, writes CarmelRickard.

Six months ago, Jacob Zuma’s apparent instruction that his lawyers investigate bringing a case to the African Court on Human & Peoples’ Rights added to the sense that the former president was ill-informed and out of touch.

After all, during the years of his leadership SA had consistently declined to take the steps that would allow someone in SA to bring a case before that court. As a result, the Constitutional Court decision finding him in contempt of court still stands, with no possibility of being challenged at the African court...
