Zamalek president Mortada Mansour has been sentenced to two years in prison after a court ruled in favour of Al Ahly chief Mahmoud El-Khatib in a defamation matter. 😲 🇪🇬 More here ➡

In 2021, El-Khatib filed two defamation cases against Mansour regarding comments he'd made when he reportedly insulted Al Ahly vice-president El-Amri Farouk, former board member Khaled Al-Darandali and club treasurer Khaled, the Red Devils' chief executive officer Mohamed Marjan was also subjected to ridicule in the video, which added to an already tense relationship Mansour had with Ahly.

"The Economic Court decided to sentence Mortada Mansour to two years in prison for the two cases brought by Mahmoud El-Khatib who was publicly slandered by the former through the media," Al Ahly said in a statement."The court today ruled to imprison the defendant for one year in each case, fine him EGP 10 000 and another EGP 10 000 as a temporary compensation for El-Khatib."
