BUKIT MERTAJAM: Pasir Bedamar assemblyman R.N. Terence Naidu claimed trial at a Magistrate's Court here for drug abuse.

The 54-year-old pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah Mohd Akit when the charge was read to him on Wednesday .

According to the charge sheet, Terence had administered 3,4- methylenedioxymethamphetamine to himself. The offence was allegedly committed at the Seberang Prai Tengah police district headquarters Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division's office at 12.13am on Jan 14. He was charged under Section 15 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and if found guilty, he could be fined the maximum of RM5,000 or not more than two years' imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by DPP Datuk Khairul Anuar Abdul Halim, while Ramkarpal Singh and R.S.N. Rayer represented Terence.It was reported in January that Terence was arrested in a police raid at an entertainment centre, and his urine test came out positive for drugs.
