The Banskia Hill juvenile detention centre will receive a $25.1 million upgrade after it was slammed by a Perth Children's Court judge as a "dehumanising" space.Children's Court President Hylton Quail was highly critical of the jailThe money will go towards a $7.5 million crisis care unit, improvement to the centre's intensive supervision unit, in-cell media streaming for education and therapeutic purposes, and a new Aboriginal services unit.
Judge Quail described the cell where the teenager was kept as "a fish bowl" and the yard where he was supposed to be allowed to exercise as a "10 x 20 metre cage". An exercise yard at the Banksia Hill juvenile detention centre was described by Justice Quayle as a "cage".
It’s the appropriate place for ‘law breakers”! It’s not supposed to be a ‘resort’.🤔
So what? These criminals would have dehumanised their victims as well. It's ridiculous that the criminals get treated better than their victims. 🤔
The law and order machine generating future criminals with inhumane and disgusting treatment, which benefits magistrates lawyers etc etc, stripping kids naked while being taunted by sadists who are attracted to these jobs.
