The Wisconsin Supreme Court has adopted Republican-drawn maps for the state Legislature, handing the GOP a victory.

Democrats would have made some marginal gains under Evers’ plan, but Republicans were projected to maintain their majorities in the Assembly and Senate, according to an analysis from the governor’s office.

The Legislature’s maps, they wrote, “are race neutral” and “comply with the Equal Protection Clause, along with all other application federal and state legal requirements.” Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers addresses a joint session of the Legislature during his State of the State in Madison, Wisc., on Feb. 15, 2022.“If, according to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Governor’s addition of a Milwaukee-area majority-minority district evinces a disqualifying consideration of race, then the Legislature’s removal of a Milwaukee-area majority-minority district reveals an equally suspect, if not more egregious, sign of race-based line drawing,” Karofsky wrote.

“At a time when our democracy is under near-constant attack, the judiciary has abandoned our democracy in our most dire hour,” Evers said. The court has signaled it may significantly change the ground rules that govern redistricting. The court’s involvement comes after its 2019 ruling that federal courts have no role in stopping partisan gerrymandering.

This is ridiculous… absolutely ridiculous

How many people of color are on the snow state Supreme Court? Just curious

Only in America a map determines the outcome of elections

Take it to the Supreme court.

Judges are lawyers, right? That's all the explanation I need.

All the GOP can do is cheat, what policies do they truly represent? Anyone ?

This is what's happening in Florida. The GOP-led legislature has handed all power to desantis to create the maps.

I asks U.S. Supreme Court to overrule Republican-drawn maps for the state Legislature in Wisconsin.

They can only win if they rig it and cheat their way in.

Stealing elections. Either we get out in mass numbers to vote against this madness or sit back and be governed by heartless republicans for generations. Get out and vote these Republicans out of office.

Rock on

That's the Only Way Republicans Can Win is Cheat

Republican corruption has reached the judicial levels across the country now reaching all the way to the Supreme Court. 50% of this country is getting pushed more and more and more by right wing nuts both politicians and judges; there will be a major backlash at some point.

How desperate

What’s really going on🤦‍♀️

🤮

The system in WI is broken. The GOP has rigged the system so they win no matter how the people vote. They stacked the courts and the elections in their favor so they have basically FU*KED democracy. The GOPCorruptionOverCountry GOPTraitorsToDemocracy

Did anyone expect Dems to take Wisconin?

Ohio Supreme Court rejects Republicans’ fourth set of state legislative mapsIn a Thursday decision, the court gave the Ohio Redistricting Commission until May 6 to draw a new plan. And the Republicans again succeeded in delaying compliance with a court order The independents already provided a map. Should be done by monday if they used what they paid the commission for. The court is giving them more time not for fair maps, but for maps that are less rigged.
