Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos State, on Tuesday, dismissed the no-case submission filed by an oil marketer, Ayodeji Oluokun, who was arraigned before the court for alleged issuance of dud cheques valued at $1.6m.
Oluokun, an assistant pastor at the RCCG, City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos, was said to have assured the complainant that he would repay the money within a year. The defendant was charged with six counts of amended charges bordering on obtaining money by false pretences, stealing and issuance of dud cheques.
The EFCC counsel, Samuel Daaji, however, asked the court to determine if the evidence adduced by the prosecution sufficiently linked the defendant to the offences to warrant him to be called on to open his defence and make explanations.
