UT Austin law students reacted to the news of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's final confirmation.

AUSTIN, Texas — Samuel Jefferson and Marissa Elder are law students at the University of Texas at Austin Law School. The students are in between classes but are making time to get a sneak peek of history in the making. The duo gathered outside of the law school building to watch the final confirmation vote for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman confirmed for Supreme Court in the history of the United States.

Elder is a 3-L law student born and raised in San Antonio who serves as the president of the Student Bar Association at UT Austin Law. “You can aspire to something, and actually being able to see it come to fruition that makes it feel more possible for someone like me. The possibilities on what can come from this career path has expanded for us,” said Elder.
