Ketanji Brown Jackson has been confirmed as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court. Three Republicans joined with all Democrats to support her.

The Senate confirmed Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court Thursday afternoon, marking a historic moment for the high court and a massive victory for President Joe Biden.

“This is a great moment for Judge Jackson. But it is an even greater moment for America, as we rise to a more perfect union,” Schumer said ahead of the vote. “I think [Biden] will likely say at the end of his term, whenever that might be, that this will be one of the most significant things that he has done. Because it is that important to history,” said former Sen. Doug Jones , who has helped guide Jackson to confirmation as her so-called Sherpa.

“I’m a senator, I’m a pastor, but beyond all of that I’m the father of a young Black girl. I know how much it means for Judge Jackson to have navigated the double jeopardy of racism and sexism to now stand in the glory of this moment,” said Sen. Raphael Warnock , one of three Black senators. “What a great day it is in America.”

Nonetheless, McConnell defended the tough questions Jackson faced by some Republicans during last month’s hearings. While Jackson’s support is bipartisan, her path to the court faced stern opposition from high-profile conservatives. And the Senate Judiciary Committee deadlocked on her nomination earlier in the week, amid unanimous opposition from the panel’s Republicans.

I find that so disgusting that Republicans got up and walked out.

Congratulation great victory may you live a long time in the Supreme Court and stand up for what is right

To all Republicans that opposed her nomination, 🎶no, her names not Ketanji Brown Jackson. It’s Justice. Justice Jackson if you’re nasty🎶

We’re republicans really absent as this video suggests?

Well then USA has now a judge in supreme court who do not know what word 'woman' mean Congratulation USA

So exciting! Congratulations KBJ!

How do you know she is a woman ? Do you have biologists on staff?

The GQP has been proven to be a racist party appealing to white supremacists.

Shame on Senator Tim Scott for voting NO in the Senate for the nomination of KETANJI B. JACKSON to be confirmed for the SCOTUS! She will be the 1st black woman on the SCOTUS, just like he was the 1st black (R) Senator of a Southern State since reconstruction.

Tiny, old, misfit white guy's heads just exploded

♥️

Obama Bin Ladin pushing her nomination in the WH yesterday!

♥️

The Democratic's think a life time appointment to the US Supreme Court means Your Black and a Woman The Democratic's won't say they are placing a Black Woman on in the US Supreme Court because she's Black. Judge Jackson has no real qualifications to be a US Supreme Court Justice.

What is a woman?

✊🏼 KetanjiBrownJackson

brat2381 Drinks up. Shout out to TheeKHiveQueenB. Its been a very long road.

Congratulations for her.

zittokabwe Racist will never end! Why mentioned her by colour?

zittokabwe Women can do it

Sorry, Politico. For all of your platforming Republican talking points, she succeeded anyway.

There have already been black justices appointed to the SupremeCourt. Since we can’t define “Woman” anymore, that part is moot.

BabeTruth2 History made. Congratulations Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Well, we got it right. We wish her well and that similar minded jurists join her in the near future.

Why Republicans Romney, Murkowski, and Collins say they'll vote for Ketanji Brown JacksonThree Republican senators have taken the political risk of breaking from their party to vote for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation to the Supreme Court this week. “The potential risk” let’s just call the Republican Party what it is, a cult.
