Leading corporate law firm Allens has appointed 12 new partners, and exceeded a gender target.

The promotions will lift the percentage of female partners at the firm to 37 per cent as of July 1. Mr Spurio said this would exceed a gender target set in 2017 – when the ratio was 26 per cent – for at least 35 per cent of partners to be female by 2022.

Allens chairman Fiona Crosbie says the firm has taken “deliberate steps over many years” to increase the number of female partners. He said Allens had a new target of at least 40 per cent female partners by 2025 via its 40:40:20 policy; 40 per cent women, 40 per cent men and 20 per cent any gender.“The firm has taken deliberate steps over many years across structure, culture and policy to achieve this result,” Ms Crosbie said.

“As a firm, we strive to foster a culture where gender equality is the norm. It enriches our experiences as individuals, enhances our performance and delivers better outcomes for our clients and communities.” The firm usually announces its new partners in July but brought forward the process this year to tie in with its global partner, Linklaters.

Exceeded the gender target, ehh? Yes, it happens a lot nowadays. But of course it's only covered by the media when the chart moves in particular one direction
