How freaking irresponsible! Since “time began”, cyclists were considered motorists, NOT pedestrians! Now they will act as arrogantly as some motorists I know! I fear this ideology will spread; we’ll b in real trouble.
Where do I lodge my complaints about drivers rolling through stop signs?
Well, that's stupid. They need to stop as well. Obey the same rules of the road like cars or you just run the risk of getting hit and 99%of the time the bicyclists doesn't win.
Cue the angry motorists that are stuck in their 3 ton metal boxes for hours at a time.
I'd just like to point out that stop signs are not red lights!
With proper bike lanes everywhere, this could work. Pop density of Colorado is about (~55/sq mi), but I don't think this is realistic today for people that bike in places with higher pop density like PA (291) or NJ where I live (1263/sq mi).
Stupid.
I hope your governor is not as clueless as California’s governor, who vetoed a similar bill last year.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
nice
Should Polis sign this, when does it take effect?
Stupid idea
It’s always funny how car people respond to these kinds of changes. Drivers are the largest law breaking group in the US, the number one killer of children, and the number two killer of people overall. But yeah, bikes are the problem.
If you think drivers hate when cyclists roll through stop signs, just wait until you actually come to a full stop
We do this already because it’s SAFER. Drivers are just mad.
Does it matter They think everyone should yield to them already.
Bad idea
This is a great step toward making things safer for bikers and drivers. Thank you Gov. Polis!
Every study done on safety before and after implementation of the Safety Stop shows a decrease in collisions and fatalities. It may not make sense to you if it's a new concept, but don't say it will be more dangerous when the evidence says otherwise.
This seems like a good time to remind people what to do in the event of a bicycle accident:
I never understood the pedestrian biker and walking argument like 'imagine pedestrian I have the right away ' . Maybe. But dude is in a f150 super duty 🤷♀️
That's just wrong. Bikes should follow the same laws as cars.
Awesome!! If this pisses you off you've never had to use a bike as a form of transportation. This is actually SAFER but you car driving assholes don't wanna hear it.
This’s when I’ll be critical of the governor that, overall, is doing a stellar job during one of the most turbulent times, this is frustrating. There’s a reason why a system in a largely bicycle riding population like in Denmark works, it’s bc *everyone* follows the traffic laws.
Good! Up next, let’s get rid of free on-street car storage.
Bad idea!
So as a driver if you hit a person on a bike running a red light does that make me liable If so it’s Fkn BS🤬🤬🤬🤬
Anything to get a vote?
Or.... you could just ride on a trail or in your own neighborhood and leave the roadways for the multi-ton vehicles that are traveling at 10x speed...
