Politico came under fire Monday after the outlet published content alleging that Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, would become the first black justice in the history of the Supreme Court.

"Let's walk you through how the confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the first Black Supreme Court Justice is likely to unfold this week. To be clear: Democrats aren't going to break until they get this done," the article, which has since been corrected, read. The false claim was repeated in a now-deleted tweet.

"Ketanji Brown Jackson will likely be confirmed as the first black Supreme Court Justice by the end of this week," the tweet read. Former Associate Justice Thurgood Marshall was the first black judge to serve on the Supreme Court, and current Justice Clarence Thomas has served since 1991. As an attorney, Marshall rose to fame after successfully arguing the landmark cases of Smith v. Allwright, Shelley v. Kraemer, and Brown v. Board of Education before the nation's highest court.Congressional Republicans were among those quick to point out Politico's blatant mistake.

"Deleted Politico tweet… News to Justices Thomas & Marshall…" said Rep. Chip Roy, a Texas Republican, in a tweet.— Chip Roy April 4, 2022 Senator Mike Lee calls out Politico for falsely claiming that Ketanji Brown Jackson will be"first Black Supreme Court Justice" pic.twitter.com/ewOe3Bx6SPLee further noted that such a claim would shock the families of Marshall and Thomas, knocking the hypocrisy of leftist inclusivity.
