from donating R50-million in humanitarian assistance to Cuba.
According to the department, the donation is legitimate in terms of the African Renaissance and International Co-Operation Fund Act. The international relations minister, Naledi Pandor, made a request for the money last year after receiving a letter in July from Cuban ambassador Rodolfo Benitez Verson asking for assistance “to address the shortage of food and medical supplies” in the country.
According to court documents, the finance minister approved the R50-million just two days after receiving Pandor’s letter, and said in his approval letter: “… I propose that we consider a discussion as cabinet on how we can extend the financial assistance to Cuba beyond this requested assistance, which can be multi-year, considering the … financial situation of Cuba, which might take years to recover from.
There is a bigger scam here in the government, I think this money comes back to Cadres in some way
The government borrows money from the World bank and then transfers it to Cuba
