Kind of like what happens with our Electoral College in a presidential election.

Republican Bruce Poliquin is suing, because with ranked choice, the candidate who gets the most votes may not win the election? But Republicans were ok with electing a President who didn't win the popular vote. hmmm.

FACING DEFEAT is the operative phrase....Bruce is a very sore loser -- he and his staff thought the people of Northern Maine would be stupid enough to vote for him again, even tho he's done nothing for them BUT tons for himself...his term was very profitable...FOR HIM....

Have you heard about the 2016 Presidential Elections?!

Rank choice voting looks like a major improvement to the voting system.

Maybe he should have sued two years ago, instead of when he may lose. This guy is full of crap.

Like the presidency

Electoral College anyone?

How disappointing considering the Poliquin website suggests he is otherwise a very splendid fellow:

So. Much. Whining.

Went from WINNER to WHINER, just like that! Buh-bye.

DanTripleOne 'because the candidate who gets the most votes may not ultimately be declared the winner.' MUTHAF- WHAT

With all due respect to the idiot Republican.... a) the individual state is reserved the right as to the manner of election, so long as the act is not discriminatory in nature...read (HA!) the constitution. b) the GOP had been doing this for years, through gerrymandering.

What’re your thoughts HillaryClinton ?

No. That is too subjective.

Trumpublicans cannot help themselves. Fair elections are anathema to them.

Another crybaby Republican protests that he can’t win in a fair election. 🙄

Ranked choice allows for second and third choice votes, which are still votes and can add to the first choice winner’s tally. It helps defer costly runoff elections. A clearly winning candidate will always win in ranked choice voting. So if you lost, dude you were never gonna win

Republicans: if we can't win we're just going to change the rules. Also, will this guy bring down the ElectoralCollege vote2018

So he does not want to accept the will of the people? Should make a great Rep. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤨🤨🤨🤨

Like Hillary?

This instant runoff system is part of the future. It gives people more of a choice and rewards civility, of course this GOPer is against it.

'It does not award winners who obtain a plurality — or the most votes...' So, similar to the way we elect presidents.

Hmmmm maybe we should take this seriously. I like the idea of a popular vote- say for President...

“Ranked choice election decides which electors get to cast the constitutionally relevant votes.” There problem solved

ironic

Sort of like losing the popular vote but being elected President....

He knows about the electoral college, right?

In the last two elections the Democratic mayoral candidate in Lewiston (Ben Chin) was ahead twice after the first ballots were counted. And lost BOTH runoff elections to the Republicans running. So, there's that.

So HillaryClinton is President of the United States then? Someone should call her up and let her know.

FOH. Majorities of voters in at least 3 battleground states — PA, MI and NC — chose a Democrat to represent them in the state’s House of Representatives. Yet in all three states, Republicans maintained majority control over the chamber despite winning only a minority of votes.

Looks like this guy has stolen the DEM election playbook. If you don’t like the rules, litigate until the rules change in your favor! Wish him best of luck, let’s see if he can out democrat the DEMs

EndElectoralCollege

Hey Bruce it's now 2018. Where were you in 2016 when this was established? What's changed since then that makes this so important to you?

So, just like the Electoral College, huh?

He was fine with the rule earlier

::stares into the camera::

More Republican stupidity

Does that mean we can get rid of Trump?! realDonaldTrump I might be willing to put up with BrucePoliquin for a couple more years if that was true

We congratulate Maine on their first RCV election.

What? You mean in this country the person with the most votes doesn’t win?! I am shocked. 😳

Oh irony.

2018 Senate: Democrats lost 1 seat -- 48,305,157 votes (57.5%) Republicans gained 1 seat -- 34,356,123 votes (40.9%)

Tell that to Hillary Clinton and Al Gore.

Republicans just hate votes getting counted.

Gee maybe he can sue to undo the electoral college while he’s at it?

Interesting question. We'll see.

Kind of like Clinton?

Isn’t ranked choice just a real time runoff election? Are all of those unconstitutional too?

You mean sorta like Trump?

See: Republican presidential victories in 2016, 2000, Senate 2018.....

This needs to be stopped

Huh?

Who wants to tell him?

This guy is in for a real shock when he hears about the Electoral College.
