A WA court hears that a woman in fear of her life once jumped out of a car to escape from her partner before leaving a note for police in the event something happened to her.

Police told the court the woman secretly wrote "Billy did this" on her leg because she believed she was going to die and wanted to identify her killer.Police allege he told the woman:Police allege he dragged her by her hair about 20 metres into the bush, punched her multiple times to the head and choked her for about 30 seconds.

Police told the court the woman awoke to see him driving away and she ran towards the highway for help, but he stopped and bundled her back into the car.Billy-James Hall will reappear in court later this week.During a bail application, Mr Hall's lawyer told the court he had handed himself into police on Sunday."She sent a text message to police saying, 'He's here [at a South Kalgoorlie address] now … can you come and get him?'," the prosecutor said.

The police prosecutor presented photographs of the woman's injuries to the court and described them as "very distressing".
