A 12-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with targeting some of central London's most prestigious hotels in a 10-month burglary spree.

The schoolboy is accused of looting Claridge's in Mayfair, the Four Seasons in Park Lane, the Corinthia Hotel in Whitehall and the Millennium Hotel in Knightsbridge. He is also accused of raiding the BBC Television Centre in White City, together with the offices of luxury retailer The White Company and media agency Publicis - both located in the west London complex.The boy is charged with 14 counts of burglary and a further count of conspiracy to commit burglary, between April 2021 and February this year.

His brother, 13, is charged with three burglary counts between September 2021 and February this year, and a fourth count of conspiracy to commit burglary, from April 2021 and February this year.The siblings, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court accompanied by their mother on Thursday.

An adult co-defendant, Shane McCarthy, 19, also appeared in court facing nine counts of burglary, one of theft and one of conspiracy to commit burglary, also between April 2021 and February this year.
