Sen. Grassley demands the Justice Dept. open an investigation into conditions at a New Jersey nursing home where 17 bodies were found stacked in a morgue in 2020.

In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland co-signed by two other GOP senators, Tim Scott of South Carolina and Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa called conditions at the facility “

” and urged Garland to launch an investigation. Grassley and Scott are on the health care subcommittee of the Finance Committee, and Scott is the ranking member of the Special Committee on Aging.the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services asking the agency to provide his office with a detailed explanation of its decision about “whether or not to terminate Woodland’s participation in Medicare or Medicaid.

Grassley also asked whether the facility will be required to “provide a plan” to move the 400-plus residents if the facility is cut off from federal funding.Nov. 19, 2021Last week the state of New Jersey appointed an outside monitor to remain at Woodland for 90 days to “conduct an onsite assessment of business practices, operations, and infrastructure.”, according to a police report, when she was found in the parking lot in the early morning after having wandered outside through broken doors.

Has he forgotten he lives in Iowa

Grassley ought to be checking nursing homes in his state. The GOP Governor set up health department procedures making it impossible for ordinary citizens to know which homes had CoVid outbreaks.

He wants to make extra sure hes not one of the corpses.

ChuckGrassley Why don’t you check your state for Covid deaths. Why looking at New Jersey?
