Gun rights groups and GOP legislators argue that the new law, set to take effect in mid-June, removes costs and barriers for law-abiding people to exercise their constitutional right to bear arms and for self-defense, while critics argue that it will increase gun violence.
"Nowhere in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution does it say you have to have training to defend yourself or to bear arms," Republican state Sen. Terry Johnson, who sponsored Senate Bill 215, said last fall.Proponents of the law, including the National Rifle Association and the Buckeye Firearms Association, say that people still apply and pay for permits and training.
The continuing saga of Wild West America. It never went away - and is extremely unlikely to change. The whole nation is obsessed with guns because of fear of own government and other gun users. They should also, equally, fear themselves.
What could go wrong when everyone armed. Gun culture on steroids unbelievable.
Why having a driver's license then?! Why not let everyone go as they please. You need a gun? You have a problem.
As is CONSTITUTIONAL: 'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.' 2nd Amendment
Great idea…..😑
Except people of color. I'm sure there is a hidden clause that isn't written like we've seen many times before. So people of color don't think this law applies to you. Don't make that mistake.
GovHowardDean This will end well.
Darwinism at work. Statistically they are far more likely to have their gun used on themselves or a family member. than an 'intruder.'
Awesome!
remind me to buy shares in local funeral services
About time...let's play ball...
They should at least have a law that says it should be kept out of reach of children with all the accidental deaths in the news lately.
GREAT, MORE GUNS FOR KIDS TO GET THEIR HANDS ON. WHATS MORE DEAD AMERICAN CHILDREN TO THE ASSHOLES IN GOVERNMENT
Hope we can get this in California
I'm an Ohioan, I have a gun…this is going to get people killed
Another Memphis. Wait until the murder cases rises and the death of innocent children get taking daily. Not enough violence for you Ohio?
Wtf
Do police require weapons training and recertification?
Just know its alot that comes wirh the conceal carry. People get it really confused
CNNs audience is now furious they can't have citizens arrested for carrying, as they were previously angry they can't teach your 3rd grader how to fuck in Florida.
This rash of new gun laws tells law enforcement that any and all people could be armed, any interaction with the public could result in death. Society is evolving toward self-destruction.
That's nice. Hooray for more gun violence.
So why would you need cops anymore? Everyone is judge, jury and executioner, depending on their emotional, split second reaction while having a deadly weapon.
Criminals beware!
Hmm. Concealed carry. No permit or training needed. What could possibly go wrong?
These states. wtf is happening? Why are we moving backwards in time?
The homicide rate would go down if we had the ability to stop degenerates from reproducing, but we can't regulate that activity. When Father's Day is a mystery in some communities it is a problem. Until then law abiding citizens need to be able to protect themselves.
And There are more gun murders per capita than anywhere else on earth in a major decmoxary. Embarrassing
Maybe RepTimRyan would be wise to up his personal security from now until the elections this year?!
America, the land of guns & slaughter
Talk about legalizing murdere.
My state making me proud once again... I mean, what could possibly go wrong with a bunch of armed, untrained rednecks?
more deaths expected then. RIDICULOUS
Wow. that's just crazy
Because....of course...
Maybe is states didnt take a year to issue licenses it would have never happened. I waited a year fot my license from Illinois even though the state constitution says 30 days. But i am all for conceal carry class it was a great educational experience.
Wouldn't that put more illegal guns on the streets?
This is what those eligible adults need. Yeah, right... Maybe they should take their weapons and fight in Ukraine. That way they could put those weapons to good use, instead of using them in their homeland.
Can a felon eventually become an 'eligible'.
