A Russian woman who denounced the war in Ukraine during a live news bulletin on state television was fined 30,000 rubles (about $300 Cdn) after the Kremlin branded her act of protest as 'hooliganism.'

A Russian woman who denounced the war in Ukraine during a live news bulletin on state television was fined 30,000 rubles on Tuesday, a court said, after the Kremlin denounced her act of protest as "hooliganism.

Ovsyannikova staged an extraordinary show of dissent on Monday night when she held up a anti-war sign behind a studio presenter reading the news on Channel One and shouted slogans condemning Russia's Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine. State TV, which beams the Kremlin's narrative into homes across Russia's 11 time zones, portrays the invasion as a "special military operation," brushing over the humanitarian crisis, damage to cities and the mounting death toll.Ovsyannikova exhorted Russians not to be taken in by state propaganda, a message that drew praise from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but was swiftly rebuffed in Moscow.

After the hearing, Ovsyannikova told reporters she was exhausted, had been questioned for more than 14 hours, had not been allowed to speak to her relatives and was not provided with legal assistance. She said she needed to rest before commenting further.1 hour agoMarina Ovsyannikova, the anti-war protester who staged a protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine during a live news broadcast on Russian state TV, spoke to reporters after being interrogated by police for 14 hours.

What’s the scariest is she’s probably going to die in prison.

After the $300 fine was paid, has she, or will she, ever be seen again? This is a propaganda response by Putin because it was so public.

In real life Gulag or Lubyanka!!

this was a fine for a different offence, actually. get your facts straight. 🙄

I heard she has disappeared?

Let her be Russias change ! Make her famous ! Take down Russia TakeDownPutin

And the lady who held up the sign on Russia TV didn't even have her bank account frozen or was jailed. Easier to protest in Russia it seems

Yeah, that what they told us. She was probably taken out back and publicly flogged 😞

Is there a Gofundme setup yet? Pay the fine and have enough for safe travel to Finland

They could also freeze her bank account just like in Canada.

Does she have a GoFundMe? I’d gladly pay her fine.

Sure and we are not digging up First Nation bodies of children from unmarked graves all over Canada. CBC has lost all its trust and integrity. Now we know how people felt living in a nazi state and not being a nazi. Canada supports neo nazis militia killing Ukrainians in Donestk

If an anti-master did the same thing during life CBC show, he/she would be charged. I every country has its own laws.

Remember when Trudeau froze accounts and incarcerated innocent protesters?

Justin did far worse to the truckers. Does that mean that Senior Blackface is worse than Putin? It would seem so.

May more people like her should stand up against Potins thugs.

Fined ... So far ...

In Canada that gets your bank account suspended and your name on a list where CBC reporters (read:hacks) will then hassle you.

Very courageous, and VERY risky

Bless her.

Heroine !

Where is her GoFundMe, I’ll chip in.

30,000 rubles? What a loaf bread will cost there in about 3 weeks

This is a hero, should be getting a medal not a fine. Lucky she didn’t get 15 years in prison.

I'll believe it when I see proof of life!

She was or is a big part of the Russian propaganda machine. I'm suspicious of this. Also a $300 fine? Seems too light a punishment to be legit.

surprised if she stays alive.

This woman is a hero. Now contrast the treatment of protesters here in Canada (e.g. Tamara Lich). Russia appears to treat people who have unpopular opinions in their country better than Canada does. Unpopular is not always bad; this is why free countries have to allow dissent.

Didn’t they just pass a law to put dissidents in prison for 15 years?

Noble Peace Prize!

This fine is just for the civic case. She still has a criminal case against her which will continue!

So, For 8 years Ovsiannikova was working as a state propagandist and was spreading absolutely wind RussianPropaganda and sowing hate of Ukrainians among Russians and now she is a 'hero' because of a 3 second stunt and $300 fine? I say, 'Русский военный корабль, иди нахуй'

This woman has more courage than our leaders , give Ukraine no fly zone or you will give them death

That's all?

Knowing how little most Russians get paid the fine is significant. It's that walk off of a balcony that will be a killer.

One way trip to the Gulag?

Frankly, i am relieved to hear that. I feared they would make an example of her and send to life in prison or worse.

People might want to think about this before crowning her.

she is a hero

I applaud my friend for speaking her mind. Когда вы разрешаете себе говорить о том, что важно для вас в любой ситуации, вы обретете покой, несмотря на неприятие или неодобрение. Голос вашей души поможет вам избавиться от негативной энергии страха и сожаления. 🙏

Who is the real 'hooligan', though that is a mild term for Putin!

Why not 15 years?

But the msm said we will never see her again. That she will end up in a Gulag in Siberia etc etc.

Why didn't they beat her, jail her, dox her, and fine her 6 months pay? Pretty lenient. Good thing she didn't try that in Canada.

A hero. 🇺🇦

No jail time, and an administrative fine. Seems a bit strange, no?

She is a role model. No fear because fear is the worst enemy. Even the bible says “fear not for I will be with you” said the Lord.

This Woman is my hero, she is doing the right thing, she should never be fined for not wanting war like her fellow Citizens, she is an hero!

We call people like her having 'unacceptable views' in Canada

Sounds eerily similar to how we treated donors to the FreedomConvoyCanada

are not rubbles worth but pennies theses days. like 3$ dollar fine

Make her famous! MarinaOvsyannikova FreeRussiaFromPutin

But others are going to jail for 15 years for the same thing?
