Mohamad Yusof Kameh, 55, who was the former state director of the National Anti-Drug Agency , pleaded not guilty when he was charged yesterday before Sessions Court judge Elesabet Payawan.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was alleged to have received bribes totalling RM5,900 to approve several projects worth RM31,629 between Nov 24, 2017 and March 19, 2019. He was said to have committed the offences at the AADK office by favouring an individual representing a company called Mutiara Event Management & Supplies.
The charges were framed under Section 16 of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, a fine of up to five times the value of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher, if found guilty. The accused, who was unrepresented, was offered bail of RM5,000 with one surety. He was also ordered to report to the state MACC office every month until the end of the proceedings. The court fixed March 16 as the next mention date.
