OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday using the Emergencies Act is a measure of last resort to bring an end to the illegal and undemocratic blockades that have harmed Canadians for nearly three weeks now.
It said police deal with complex law-enforcement issues every day and have cleared multiple border blockades across the country without emergency powers. "We did it to protect families and small businesses, to protect jobs and the economy," he said."We did it because the situation could not be dealt with under any other law in Canada."
The House debate will continue until midnight every night until Sunday, and then again all day Monday, with a vote planned for 8 p.m. Monday. The Senate will begin debating the motion Friday. The House debates are expected to stretch for several days. Interim Conservative Leader Candice Bergen said her party does not support the use of the act because the government has not proven the demonstrations pose a serious threat to Canada's sovereignty, security or territorial integrity and couldn't be dealt with under existing laws.
That prompted Green MP Elizabeth May to counter that Trudeau wasn't hiding — he had COVID-19 and was in isolation.
So POTUS has same mandate for truckers but Canada is shouldering all this, while Biden prepares to start a war with Russia. Maybe hes asked JustinTrudeau to shoulder this in an effort to deflect our attention cdnpoli uspoli cdnmedia convoy2022 EmergenciesAct Tactic
