DSS Director of Legal Services, whose name was not mentioned, told Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja High Court that Kanu was denied a change of clothes because of the insignia on the items of clothing.
Kanu’s trial resumed on Wednesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, with him wearing his regular Fendi outfit. During the proceedings, Kanu’s Lead Counsel, Mike Ozekhome, complained to Justice Nyako of DSS, refusing to allow the IPOB leader to change his clothes.Explaining, the DSS Director of Legal Service said: “My Lord, clothes that were brought for the defendant had lion’s head embroiled on them, and the defendant can’t wear clothes with a lion’s head.”Following his explanation, the judge asked Kanu what type of clothes he preferred.
