Murder-accused presented himself at garda station, court hears

Timmy Hourihane, a 53-year-old chef from west Cork who was living in a"tented village" in Cork city in 2019, died shortly after being found seriously injured near a tent in Mardyke Walk, Cork, in the early hours of 13 October 2019.His trial at the Central Criminal Court in Waterford heard today that he presented himself at Mayfield Garda Station at about 3.30pm on the afternoon of 13 October 2019.

Vincent Heneghan SC, defending, asked the inspector if Mr Brady had presented himself"voluntarily" and was told that he had.Inspector O'Connell replied:"He said he wanted to speak to a detective in relation to an incident at the Mardyke."Mr Heneghan said that, in photographs taken at the station, Mr Brady could be seen to have a"bloodied face" and asked if that blood was swabbed and Inspector O'Connell said that it was.
