Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will be allowed to compete for a second gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, despite failing a pre-Games drug test.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport has ruled that the 15-year-old Valieva — the favourite for the women's individual gold — does not need to be provisionally suspended ahead of a full hearing into her positive test for the heart drug trimetazidine. The ruling only addresses whether Valieva can keep skating before her case is resolved.
CAS's decision does not consider whether Valieva is guilty of doping, nor whether the Russian skaters can keep the gold team medal they won with Valieva’s help.More to come.
She supposedly tested positive on Dec. 25 last year and the result was announced just after she won gold almost 2 months later? From the same country that tried to frame Assange.
So Cheating does prosper.
Don't feel sorry for her - feel sorry for her clean competitors.
Her Coaches should be banned and accreditation removed, Child abuse.👍Russia doing what Russia does best.💩
You must understand: she's not from Russia where widespread doping has disqualified everybody; she's from the Russian Olympic Committee, and that's entirely different.
The real issue is whether child athletes are being abused through doping (not to mention evidence of severe restrictions on food and water intake). There is no beauty in skating if it comes at the cost of a child’s physical/mental well-being.
Russian pay them well..what a corruption..If athletes use banned drug must be banned to complete..how much money did Olympics CAS receive
