A NSW Law Society survey has revealed concerns about mental health and the integrity of the justice system as a result of the pandemic.

and one in four say it has a negative impact on the way they practice, according to a survey of almost 1500 lawyers.

And 22 per cent of members said the overall impact on the integrity of the justice system arising from pandemic-related changes had been negative; 40 per cent rated it positive. The most adverse results were around maintaining and managing a law practice, with negative scores in nine categories ranging from mental health to profitability.

The report said: “Other areas perceived as having been negatively impacted included: work/life balance ; a reduction in staff harmony, collegiality, and equal treatment; and physical work set-up .”
