Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said while she welcomes diversity on the Supreme Court, President Joe Biden's handling of replacing retiring Justice Stephen Breyer so far 'has been clumsy at best.'

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said while she welcomes diversity on the Supreme Court, President Joe Biden's handling of replacing retiring Justice Stephen Breyer so far "has been clumsy at best.""I would welcome the appointment of a Black female to the court," the Republican senator told ABC "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos on Sunday. "I believe that diversity benefits the Supreme Court.

Stephanopoulos asked: "You say that it's clumsy. But isn’t, as Senator Durbin pointed out, isn't it exactly what [President] Reagan did when he said he would appoint a woman to the Supreme Court? Isn't it exactly what President Trump did when he said he would appoint a woman to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg?"

"I did not agree with that decision, but once that precedent was established and given how close the death of the Supreme Court justice was to when the appointment was made of Justice Barrett," she added. "I felt that it was -- should have been up to the next president to make the decision." Collins, who is known for her commitment to bipartisanship, was also asked about efforts to reform the Electoral Count Act since she is leading a bipartisan working group of 16 senators to do so.

Biden should consider ‘all possible’ choices for Supreme Court: pollAn overwhelming majority of Americans believe President Biden should consider all possible candidates to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court. Well that’s racist or something…. Remember the dream is to judge someone by the color of their skin not the content of their character….. Considering that in the past ONLY white men were considered (with very few exceptions), I’d say it’s about time some incredibly qualified ppl who aren’t white men are considered (and, fwiw, I’m a white man). Biden practicing reverse racism

White House confirms J. Michelle Childs is among 'multiple individuals' under consideration for Supreme Court nominationSouth Carolina US District Judge J. Michelle Childs is among the people President Joe Biden is considering as a Supreme Court nominee, the White House confirmed Friday night, and as a result there will not be a hearing on her nomination to the Court of Appeals while she is under consideration for the high court. Good thing we've evolved from selection of color and gender Well, she checks all 3 boxes; black, 2 X chromosomes and is as looney as anyone else Biden would appoint. Let's just go with this one and call it a day, shall we? I'd like for some Republican to explain to me how Trump's nomination of white men isn't racist, but Biden's nomination of a black woman is. Why shouldn't the makeup of Supreme Court reflect the demographics of the country as a whole?
