David Buxton, chair of the British Deaf Association, tells fatimamanji the The British Sign Language Bill, which was backed by MPs this afternoon, will create more opportunities for deaf people and enable them to 'participate in the wider society'.

EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, who was Strictly Come Dancing’s first deaf contestant, called for the change in the law, which will mean sign language will be used when public announcements are made.
