Marcos Jr. made the pronouncement Tuesday, Jan. 25 in DZRH’s Presidential Job interview after he was asked what he would do should the people, including the military, rally against him during his oath taking for presidency.“Alangan naman we will start a civil war,” he said.
But for Marcos, whose father—a former president—was ousted following a people power, it would be a different scenario if the opposing side would start to fire shots.Asked if he will declare a martial law if that happens, Marcos did not categorically answer but said “that will harden the people’s position.” He also said he would just negotiate with the people, solidify the government’s position and bring the people to safety.
Marcos also said martial law is only declared during “wars,” and it is the military that should decide. “The bottomline is that you have to keep the peace and security of the community. May lugar ang martial law, martial law para sa gera, kung may gera ,” he said.
