Novak Djokovic's lawyers filed court papers Saturday in his challenge against deportation from Australia that show the tennis star tested positive for COVID-19 last month and recovered, grounds he used in applying for a medical exemption to the country's strict vaccination rules.

The No. 1-ranked Djokovic was denied entry at the Melbourne airport late Wednesday after border officials canceled his visa for failing to meet its entry requirement that all non-citizens be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

The Australian Open starts a week from Monday on Jan. 17. Djokovic is the defending champion and has won the Australian Open men's singles title nine times. He has 20 Grand Slam singles title, a men's record he shares with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. On Dec. 14, Djokovic attended a Euroleague basketball game between Red Star and Barcelona in a packed sports hall in Belgrade. He was photographed hugging several players of both teams, including some who soon later tested positive.

"The exclusion period will be considered as part of any new visa application and can be waived in certain circumstances, noting each case is assessed on its own merits." The other player was 38-year-old doubles player Renata Vora─ìova, who had already been in Australia for a week before an investigation by the border officials.

After months of speculation he'd miss the tournament because of his stance on vaccination, Djokovic announced on Tuesday via social media that he'd received a medical exemption to play in the tournament.

He has a medical exemption provided by two independent panels of medical experts!!! The offence is that Australia is not honouring a medical exemption which is a justified provision for not being required to be vaccinated.

That’s not the criteria for coming into Australia.

Natural immunity is real and established by scientific research - I'm fully vaccinated and have no problem acknowledging this - strong immunity is all that matters, whether it's from a vaccine or the virus itself - vaccines don't stop transmission

Zero fucks given

Novax No entry He's telling lies. The photos are there to tell the truth.

and?

The antibodies from one strain of COVID-19 won’t protect him from another strain. But an mRNA vaccine would protect him (and others who come into contact with him) from ALL strains of the virus.

Do the documents also show what a horrible person he is?

What’s covid?

So he was out in public several times at functions without a mask and never told anyone? Tells you all you need to know about his moral compass.

And now he is better...why is this news?

Day afterwards the 17th the man was prancing around Belgrade with his new postage stamp and he worse no mask So He likes to infect others and given his wife’s conspiracies probably yes, or he is lying through his teeth.

Go home!

Excellent! has naturally acquired immunity. The one that is much stronger than any vaccine, we know it!!

I hope Australia doesn't let him in. There are rules and if he doesn't feel like following them, why does he get an exception when thousands needed one to see family.....nah Send him home and call it a day. Why waste money and precious court time for a fool who won't do what is right, fuck him, bye bye, back home you go. Your money, your stature, your achievements should not permit yiu to do what others CANNOT. People need to grow spines Instead of “show” you should use “claim”. Part of the issue is that he hasn’t provided evidence he tested positive.
