It appears that the detention was made under the authority of s189(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Act) after Mr Djokovic’s visa was cancelled. However, the Minister has the power under s195A of the Act to grant a new visa to bring the detention to an end per s196(1)(c) of the Act.
TECHNICALLY , tennis Australia is in partnership with the Australian government and the sports commission so TECHNICALLY he has been invited by the federal government to play so TECHNICALLY he is an official guest of the federal government which is a valid exemption criteria 🤪
