The now infamous Belfast 'gay cake' discrimination case has been thrown out by European Court of Human Rights belfast

A complaint by a Northern Ireland gay rights activist that he had been discriminated against when the Christian owners of a bakery refused to make him a cake iced with the slogan "Support Gay Marriage" has been ruled inadmissible by the European Court of Human Rights .

Mr Lee then referred the case to the ECHR, claiming the Supreme Court had failed to give appropriate weight to him under the European Convention of Human Rights. Mr Lee then launched the legal case, supported by Northern Ireland's Equality Commission, alleging discrimination on the grounds of his sexuality, and won hearings at the county court and the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal in 2015 and 2016.

"It was disappointing to see another attempt to undermine those rights, so it is a relief that the attempt has failed.

'Gay cake' appeal application is inadmissible, European court says | NewstalkAn appeal against the ruling in the so-called 'gay cake' case has been ruled inadmissible by the ECHR, with judges saying the applicant 'had failed to exhaust domestic remedies'. Well done Ashers. I don't agree with the cake shop, but I agree with their right to serve whoever they want. If Twitter kicks anyone off, it's fine because twitter makes the rules, but a cake shop is not allowed? If the cake shop refused to make a swastika cake, would it end up in court What a waste of money time and effort surely the European Court Human Rights has better thing's to be doing than dealing with a * Gay Cake * ... everyone has the right to say No !
