Judge Kelly said he was “strongly inclined” to hear the case speedily and was open to having Djokovic give evidence, if necessary, in an online hearing. However, the judge suggested that request was an “overreach”, though he said it would be a concern if the tennis star was deported before his case was decided.

He said strong border controls had protected Australia from the worst of the pandemic and that, ultimately, it was the responsibility of travellers to adhere to the rules.“It is simply a matter of following the rules,” Mr Morrison said. “Over the next few hours ... that event will play out as it should.”

What a shame to show and prove that people can be above the law. Simply disgusting!!!

liliu1811 This is a sad story, a country being cheated by one person just because this person is the number one in the tennis ranking!!! What a disgusting situation...

Novak the world number one the greatest male tennis player EVER treated like a criminal!! Shame on Australia for treating Novak like this absolutely disgusting!!

He didn’t win anything. The Government advised the Court they wouldn’t oppose further time for him to have his legal team actually prepare something to have considered by the Court.

🤮

WeAreTennis “Court” hearing! I see what you did there. 🧐

So a rich tennis player can get a court hearing in 12 hours but a refugee has to sit in detention endlessly

What's so special about the tennis player's number 1? No matter whose you are? Rules are rules. The law is the laws.

He will be admitted and will be playing at the tournament. And if he wins…

Wow if only many others who’s visas have been cancelled were cashed up and could afford lawyers.

If as has been said other players and officials already in under same arrangements. That’s precedence. Regardless of outcome state and federal government will just further prove what a bunch of clown they are. This isn’t about risk mitigation or science.

Ridiculous! Novax should've been deported by now.
