The Senate was designed to protect the political rights of the minority in the chamber, through the promise of debate and the opportunity to amend. But over the years, those rights have been warped and contorted to obstruct and embarrass the will of [the] majority—something our founders explicitly opposed. The Constitution specified what measures demanded a supermajority—including impeachment or the ratification of treaties.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee blasts proposed rule change to Senate filibusterSen. Mike Lee ripped a suggestion from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer that he would force a vote on changing the Senate's filibuster rules a 'rash, partisan power grab.' Schumer made the suggestion after Republicans repeatedly blocked voting rights legislation. Hypocrisy IS their brand. Their base eats it up. Because the GOP has become the autocratic party. Rule by absolute power and anyone other than them with power is the enemy. And no, the democrats are not perfect. They are not innocent. But they pale in comparison to the ruthlessness and hypocrisy of the current GOP Wait are you saying SenMikeLee is a hypocrite? I don't believe it.
