A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has condemned last weekend’s arrest of son in-law to former Governor Rochas Okorocha by the police.

Nwosu, former Chief of Staff during Okorocha’s administration was whisked away during the thanksgiving service for his late mother at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Eziama-Obaire, Nkwerre Council of the state.

While commending the Inspector General of Police , Usman Alkali Baba, for his timely intervention and professionalism over the matter, it urged the police to investigate the incident thoroughly and prosecute the perpetrators in the interest of justice and peace. “In as much as we believe in the rule of law and understand that no one is above the law or being arrested, the violent manner in which the purported arrest was conducted appeared more like an abduction with the intention to harm Nwosu and fuel more tension in Imo State, already bedeviled by security challenges and killings.

It also said as a political party known for respecting and upholding the rights to religious worship, it frowned on the unlawful invasion and desecration of the Anglican Church or any other place of worship, as such action could trigger religious unrest and degenerate into anarchy.
