A woman has recalled how a sexual assault almost 40 years ago upended her life as she bids to bring her alleged attackers to justice.

“Sharni” said the alleged attack took place on AFL grand final day in 1982 on the 20th floor of a housing commission tower in Fitzroy.

“I said to him I was going to the footy and he said his mates were all watching the football and I thought, well it’s better than going to the footy on my own,” she said. However, Chris soon disappeared after the pair arrived at the residence and Sharni was left alone with four older men who she said spoke in another language.

One of the men allegedly attempted to sexually assault her and when she protested, two of the men carried her to an open loungeroom window and dangled her out, threatening to drop her if she didn’t stop resisting. When finally left alone, Sharni ran through the front door and down the stairs.“They’re disgusting, I’ve never forgotten anything,” she said.“My family doesn’t understand me, I live alone like a recluse and I’m just sick of it.

The second male is of caucasian appearance with a thin build and green eyes. He was wearing striped pyjama shorts.
