The Ijaw National Congress has called on the federal government to respect equity, justice and federal character principle as spelt out in the country’s 1999 Constitution as amended.

He noted that the problems of neglect and environmental injustice meted out to the region, which the hero of Ijaw struggle, late Isaac Boro, fought against, had remained largely unaddressed by the Nigerian state. The president added: “The right to self-determination is a right that is guaranteed by international protocols, conventions and laws.
