An Adelaide judge says it was 'a miracle' that a toddler didn't die after consuming 10 times the adult lethal dose of the party drug fantasy.

It was "a miracle" a toddler didn't die after consuming 10 times the adult lethal dose of the party drug fantasy , an Adelaide court has heard.Bradley Justin Staude has pleaded guilty to criminal neglect of a toddler after she consumed fantasy

Prosecutor Lisa Lakatos said Staude gave the girl some water, showered her and put her to bed, hoping that it would "flush out of her system and the incident would go undetected". She said the victim had consumed a "very large dose" of fantasy, a concentration 10 times greater than the level that usually results in fatal overdoses in adults.

"Children react differently to different drugs than adults do, that's why dosages change and some drugs are not used in children because of those issues.Judge Joana Fuller said it was a miracle the toddler survived. But the prosecutor told the court she did not accept that version of events, saying it was more than likely the child consumed the drug in the house and Staude was "trying to downplay moral culpability".

"To suggest that she's wandering around at night, in the dark, and entered a dark dirty shed full of nothing attractive to her at all, and by that I mean there's no toys in there, excites scepticism," Ms Lakatos told the court.
