BREAKING: Oklahoma governor commutes death sentence of Julius Jones to life in prison without the possibility of parole hours before planned execution.

The state’s use of a controversial lethal injection drug amounts to “cruel and unusual punishment,” Jones’ attorneys argued.

“After prayerful consideration and reviewing materials presented by all sides of this case, I have determined to commute Julius Jones’ sentence to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole,” Stitt said in a statement. “Thousands of people across Oklahoma, the country, and the world have called on the Governor to prevent Oklahoma from executing an innocent man,” Jones’ attorney, Amanda Bass, said in a statement Thursday, adding: “Our hope is that the Governor will ensure that this execution does not go forward given the many concerns about the execution process and Mr. Jones’s case.”

Jones maintains he was framed by the actual killer, a high school friend and co-defendant who testified against him and was released from prison after 15 years. “He is the same person today as he was 22 years ago. He’s still getting into trouble. He’s still in a gang. He’s still lying. And he still feels no shame, guilt or remorse for his action,” Tobey said. “We need Julius Jones to be held responsible.”

How absurd. What is he in jail for then? If he committed the offenses, then the sentence should stand. If he didn't commit the crimes, then he should be freed. This governor is weak.

I don't know what he did but obviously he killed multiple people like I said what about Kyle rittenhauser he went out of his way to kill people a serial killer in the works

He'll probably spend the rest of his life in jail but that's not good either

Took long enough but Thank God❗️🙏🏽👏🏽💕💕 Big win in a racist corrupt state

The same folks that would fight for his mother to brith him are the same folks that will not fight to save his life Critical Race Theory, Exhibit A

I simply cannot imagine the feeling of being a just a few hours away from being killed by the state, then hearing the news that your sentence has been commuted. Grateful that Julius Jones gets to live & hopeful that one day we don’t see life in prison as a legitimate alternative.

Jesus Christ did say, 'he that kills with the sword, must be killed with the sword', revelation 13:10, but there absolutely has to be 'no doubt' whatsoever, that a person committed murder, to! Peace.
